Efficiency Analysis of Quality Threshold Clustering Algorithms

Abstract

An important aspect of clustering is to provide a good intra-cluster similarity. Most of the traditional methods do not consider this aspect and they generate weak clusters from this viewpoint. The paper presents a survey of the two dominant candidates for quality threshold clusterings, the QT and BIRCH methods. Besides the analysis, a new variant of BIRCH method which can provide a better performance is proposed.
