Rockall, or the international legal issues surrounding a rock

As the title suggests, the legal status of a small rock in international relations is (being) examined, which is located in the North Atlantic region. At first sight, it does not arise how much controversy it can give rise to. In the following ’case’, among four states — Denmark (Faroe Islands), Iceland, the United Kingdom and Ireland — the situation intensified in June 2019, in particular between the United Kingdom (Scotland) and Ireland. At the beginning of the current article, Rockall’s sovereignty issues is clarified between the United Kingdom and Ireland, and then examine whether it constitutes as an island under the UNCLOS. Furthermore, drawing up that Rockall may have territorial sea and economic zones. After the theoretical part, turn to the study of fishing rights, and finally look for possible solutions to the disputes around Rockall.
