Investigation of clinched connections

Abstract

In this study, we introduce the technology of clinch joining technique and summarize the latest research achieved at the Institute on clinch joints via experimental and FE simulation tests, which are part of a PhD research. The paper deals with the results of the Charpy testing method on clinch joints, and some interesting results of simulations, furthermore, we introduce a novel supplementary analytical equation for the estimation of strength of dissimilar joints (between aluminum and high strength steels).
