Management Ambitions, Workplace Expectations, and Economic Impact of Generation Z – Results of a Questionnaire-Based Research

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the management ambitions, workplace expectations, motivations and economic impact of Generation Z (born between 1995 and 2005) employees in Hungary. The online questionnaire survey involved 411 respondents, focusing on key topics such as professional development, flexible working conditions, financial recognition, career advancement opportunities, workplace culture, responsibility, work-life balance, innovation, and job security. Based on the segmentation of respondents, we calculated the financial resources required to manage the three main employee groups. The results highlight that retaining and developing committed employees is the most cost-effective, while high turnover groups generate significant additional costs. The findings can help companies, educational institutions and policymakers to better support young people on their way to leadership roles and to adapt the Hungarian labour market to the challenges of the 21st century.
