Abstract

Humanity faces political, economic, ethical, and spiritual challenges unlike any it has ever experienced, while its history can also be interpreted as a chronology of paradigms and paradigm shifts. This study examines the democracy meme complex through the lens of political philosophy and political history, while simultaneously undertaking its desacralization at the dawn of a paradigm shift. Our study has uncovered the “lowest common multiple” of the countless concepts, typologies, and models of democracy—that quality which every modern approach considers a necessary principle of democracy.
