Abstract

In this paper a novel type active grid is presented where the active elements are moving flexible silicone tubes in the grid intersections. The tubes are put in motion by high-speed air jet ejected from them. The measurements and the data processing presented here are related to the determination of the properties of the motion of the tubes. A high-speed camera was applied to capture image sequences of the motion. The images were post processed via software to obtain the vectors of displacement in time of the investigated tubes. The aim of these measurements was to ascertain whether the motion is stochastic or periodic.
