Abstract

In the present study, methanol synthesis and its reactor were investigated. Nowadays methanol is an important raw material in chemical industry. Methanol production is presented in this study by reaction of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen gases and the equipment of this process. Using process simulator software, a parametric study of the influence of volume, pressure, and temperature on the degree of conversion of the reaction was carried out. A numerical flow simulation was performed to investigate the flow through a packed bed, during which the pressure, temperature and velocity distributions in the reactor were determined. The strength analysis of the reactor equipment to be used in the reaction was carried out, and the results showed that the reactor has an external dimension of 48.3 mm, a wall thickness of 2.9 mm and the material of it is an austenitic steel of 1.4541. The article presents a construction model of the reactor.
