Abstract

Our study is searching the answer for the question that what is the role of BIM (building information modelling) integrated LCA (life-cycle assessment) in the implementation of a more efficient building management. In the interest of this, it investigates independently the main parts of BIM and LCA, the advantages of the integrating processes and their role in building management in the sustainable development point of view. The expected result of the research is the optimal management of public buildings to achieve the sustainability objectives. From the research work done so far it is clear that the early and accurate decisions can help make the sustainable planning process more efficient and cost effective. The lifecycle analysis makes possible to perform scientific evaluation and makes easier to locate the possible points of action which results in an improvement of the environmental profile during the different periods of the lifecycle. However the LCA is more common in the requirements of construction industry, professionals are still finding the easiest ways of integrate such methods into the building design and construction processes. Integrating the LCA data of building materials with the help of simulations into the building information modeling platform is indeed looks promising. The LCA data is provided by the database related to building materials of the GaBI software. This study investigates the possibilities of integration and compatibility issues of three software and introduces the consequences of simplifications.
