Abstract

The roughness measurement settings can affect the 3D areal roughness results of the machined surface. These effects have been poorly investigated by researchers. Ignoring these may significantly affect the results’ accuracy and reproduction, depending on the cutting, mainly the kinematic conditions of the machining. Therefore, we aimed to explore the effect of the measurement settings and analyze the results of the studies. In the article, we examined the effect of the values that can be set on the 3D measuring instrument – density of the measured points and measuring speed – on the roughness parameters on a face milled plane surface.
