Abstract

In case of finishing (e.g., grinding, honing, superfinishing)) the superhard grain materials (diamond, cubic boron nitride) and tools made of them give new possibilities in productivity and quality. The author examines machining with tools made of relatively big-sized granules theoretically and experimentally in case of honing. Considerable productivity can be achieved and can be replaced economically e.g., internal grinding, what works with plenty of inaccuracy and low productivity. At the same time surface quality can be better, if multistep (roughing, smoothing and finishing) honing is applied. Consideration of technological design and process are needed.
