Abstract

Ever growing amount of end-of-life photovoltaic solar elements is a huge economical and environmental problem, that is why the development of their recycling is a task of the outstanding importance. Crystalline silicon, thin layered solar elements, including CdTe ones are introduced, along with the possible mechanical, thermal and chemical techniques. Our research focused on development of flotation technology. The surface properties of CdTe and glass were investigated to reveal the circumstances of their possible separation regarding pH and collectors. The obtained results prove the possibility of the flotation recycling of the obsolete solar elements, which can largely contribute the creation of the circular economy.
