Abstract

The paper summarizes a new model and a practise-oriented approach for solving production planning problems of discrete production processes. An advanced planning approach is presented which is able to adapt to the requirements of real-life situations by taking into consideration the specific characteristics of modern manufacturing and assembly systems. These detailed constraints and capabilities of the actual production environment include the technological routes, the limited available machines and the independent production orders with due dates. The paper describes the most important characteristics of the analysed problem class and shows the main approach of the developed heuristic solving method.
