Special transshipment machine for rail and road intermodal unit

Abstract

This article describes an intermodal unit transshipment machine that can be used effectively in the intermodal rail-road freight transport. As a result of this unique technical solution, the described machine can even automatically transfer the intermodal units between rail wagons and road vehicles. As a result of the described transshipment technology, the simultaneous presence of the two means of transport is not required. The solution with high level of robotics can be not only Industry 4.0 but also Logistics 4.0, the foundation for sustainable freight transport.
