Abstract

The topography of the surfaces machined by various turning methods is different due to the cutting edge geometry of the cutting tools and the applied relative kinematic relations between the workpiece and the tool during the cutting. In this article we describe the method of the definition of the theoretical maximal roughness (one of the machined surface parameters). We describe the equation of the maximal surface roughness with the earlier described mathematical model. Thereunto we define the resultant axial feed along with the equation of the machined surface in the main reference plane. Finally we examine the effects of the technological parameters (angular frequency of the workpiece and the tool, inclination angle, tool radius) on the surface roughness with the determined equation.
