Abstract

Nowadays, companies are starting to implement developments in their production and logistics systems based on the so-called Industry 4.0 concept at an increasing pace. On the one hand, this is also forced by market competition, but in many cases the main driving force is the realization that with the use of Industry 4.0 solutions, a truly higher level of automation can be achieved with significant cost savings.

At the same time, it is a problem that individual companies start from different levels of development, which is further complicated by different industry characteristics. Therefore, it can be of great benefit to develop a methodology that can help each actor to determine the level of development required to make a particular Industry 4.0 development feasible. The aim of the publication is to partially lay down the theoretical foundations for the creation of such a research tool.
