Abstract

The issue of deprivation and the closely relating disadvantaged situation is complex: its negative social, economic and health effects are significant. The improvement of the health indicators needs special attention in the lagging regions. Based on the summary of more nationally and internationally published literature about research performed on the periphery of Hungary, moving the health of people living in disadvantaged settlements to a positive direction needs a holistic point of view. The results of the research highlight that which competencies are the keys to the successful efforts of the supply system, and there is an opportunity to identify developmental ways targeting the improvement of the arising extra competencies and to get to know the direction of the supports necessary for the effective work.
