Abstract

Dust and gas explosions carry numerous hazards in industrial environments, however their consequences can be mitigated by venting. The value of the reduced pressure in the structures is difficult to predict, as the physicochemical processes are complex during venting. The explosion-reducing effect of rupture surfaces supplemented with a vent duct is even more uncertain. In engineering practice there is a need for solutions that differ from calculations of standards. This article summarizes the basics of the topic and the experiences of the authors’ previous research.
