Design of a machine for breaking up bales compacted from plastic waste

Abstract

The waste arrives at the recycling plants in bales, which must be dismantled and shredded. This article presents the design process of a machine for breaking up bales compacted from plastic waste. The structural design and operation of the current machines are presented, followed by a review of the related literature and patents. Measurements and tests to determine the properties of plastics are presented at the end of the article.
