Simulation-based analysis of clinchability of multi-layer structures

Abstract

The aim of this article is the clinchability of multi-layer structures. The question is the possibility of producing 3 layered clinched joints (in this particular case: 1 mm with two 0.5 mm sheets) without any failure. During our examination we have used an FE model previously validated by experimentally. We are dealing with the clinchability of different thickness sheets, and finally with the multi-layered joints.
