Sectoral recommendation on the distribution of personal protective equipment for employees in the water utility sector

Abstract

Drinking water is intrinsically linked to our daily lives: both to meet our basic needs and to carry out our tasks and activities; we take it for granted. It is an essential prerequisite for life, without it, existence is impossible. The production, purification and delivery of drinking water to users, and the transport, purification and recycling of the wastewater produced, are an essential and fundamental part of our civilised life. What underlies and operates this vital process is collectively known as water utility services.

The aim of our work is to describe the main areas of water utility services, their general regulatory background, the main processes currently taking place in the sector, and their economic, service, employment and, last but not least, health and safety characteristics. The main objective of our work is to describe the jobs that can be said to be specifically performed in the water utilities service sector as a result of their work tasks.
