Abstract

Access to finance for businesses will definitely be affected in the future by the mandatory implementation of the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) framework in Hungary, which promotes the monitoring and transparency of the environmental impacts of their operations. For both large and small companies, it is of paramount importance to be prepared for the wide extension of ESG requirements to the whole European market, which will happen in a few years. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of the development of the ESG framework, the ESG activities of the most significant players in the Hungarian banking and corporate sector and the current implementation of related disclosures.
