Abstract

This study presents a conceptual Operator 4.0 maturity model for assessing the organizational integration of human-centric technologies. The empirical starting point of the model development was a questionnaire survey conducted among 120 Hungarian industrial companies. The survey results were classified as either contextual variables or maturity factors; model requirements and key assessment areas were then derived from these findings and organized into a coherent structure based on the literature on maturity models and Operator 4.0/5.0. The unit of assessment is not the company as a whole, but a specific technology–operator–workflow triangle of any process, or in any workstation. The model integrates three layers: the organizational context, a three-dimensional maturity core, and the technology lifecycle. The maturity core evaluates technological adaptability, operator technological preparedness, and human-centric integration separately across four development levels. The result is not an aggregated score but a three-dimensional maturity profile. The proposed model is a conceptual framework whose comprehensibility, assessability, and practical applicability should be examined in future exploratory company pilots.
