Abstract

It is well known, that in Hungary the prison population is high by European standards. In 2013 there were 18,042 people in prison custody (the possible: 12,584
people). The majority of these prisoners are serving determinate sentences, but a growing number face indeterminate (life) sentences. Imprisonment shall be executed on the security level assigned by the court, respectively on minimum, medium or on maximum security level. A new act was enacted in 2013 in Hungray, which came into force on 1 January 2015. This is theAct CCXL of 2013 for the execution of punishments and measures. This act takes focus on the reintegration, rehabilitation.
