The importance of patient education among patients diagnosed with disc herniation

Abstract

Special attention must also be paid to quality patient education during physio-therapy, as this can have a significant impact on the effectiveness of the treatment. The main goal of the research was to investigate the characteristics of patient education for individuals diagnosed with disc herniation, which included, among other things, the mapping of what knowledge patients have about their disease and where they most often get information. Dur-ing the research, questionnaire data collection (n = 135), interviews (n = 10) and an interven-tion based on the results (n = 10) and a related patient feedback sheet were carried out. The patients were educated on the basis of a self-made patient education plan.
