Consumer protection aspects of intellectual works

Abstract

Nowadays, some aspects of consumer protection are coming to the fore. Throughout its nearly half-century-long history, this area of law has enjoyed special attention. In this paper, I tried to shed light on particular consumer protection relations from a perspective that seems foreign to first reading, that is, from the perspective of intellectual property law. Due to the nature of legal institutions, a stronger relationship will emerge in the case of industrial property instruments. However, as we will see, a number of points of connection between the two areas of law can be discovered in a direct and indirect way, despite the different nature of the particular sectoral objectives. Overall, it can be said that the two areas of law are able to provide answers to certain emerging issues in a complementary manner, and certain rules of intellectual property law also play a role in consumer protection.
