The various employment policy and labour law implications of digitalisation and Industry 4.0 have been the subject of several labour law researches in Hungary in recent times, but within this, the increasingly important paradigm of lifelong learning and its labour law interpretation have received relatively less attention. The technological changes brought about by digitalisation and Industry 4.0 are clearly increasing the need for workers to be adaptable and employable. Lifelong learning can also be supported by labour law through increased endorsement of the right to training. The aim of this paper is to outline the situation and potential development directions of Hungarian labour law regulation in relation to lifelong learning in the context of digitalisation and Industry 4.0, with an outlook to some international policy perspectives.
