Abstract

The publication focuses on restorative justice in criminal matters since the turn of the millennium in the light of European and international documents. The aim is not only to promote the interests of the victims but also to reintegrate the perpetrators into the community. In Europe, the most developed document in the field of restorative justice is the Council of Europe Recommendation CM/Rec(2018)8. The main purpose of the publication is to present this in a comparative perspective. The final conclusion is that Directive 2012/29/EU cannot be considered as an appropriate legal instrument for restorative justice.
