The paper examines the provisions of the framework decision of 2001 and the directive of 2019 as the criminal legal means of the European Union’s action against fraud and counterfeiting regarding cash-substitute payment instruments, as well as their effect on the Hungarian system of criminal law. Special emphasis is attributed to the comparison of the EU requirements and the Hungarian criminal legal regulation in force, to the evaluation of their correspondence.
