Abstract

Cicero’s name can be linked to a single indictment, referred to by ancient historians as Verrinae. The legal-historical significance of the study’s indictments against Cicero Verres in understanding the corruption-related cases (crimen pecuniarum repetundarum) of the Roman provincial administration; then the regulatory history, factual elements and punishment of extortionist crimes; finally, it discusses the procedural rules of criminal proceedings in the event of a finding of fact.
