Abstract

The study examines in detail the historical background of Giordano Bruno’s trial. It outlines the esoteric-hermetic spiritual medium in which Bruno’s oeuvre was created and shows its opposition to the teachings of the Catholic Church. It highlights the difficulties of historical research as the records of the lawsuit were lost in the nineteenth century. He also points out how Bruno’s lawsuit has become a means of propaganda against the Catholic Church, as false evidence to justify the unscientific nature of the church.
