Abstract

The Directive on the fight against fraud to the Union’s financial interests by means of criminal law is an important milestone in the history of EU criminal law, since it has strengthened the criminal law protection of the EU budget. The aim of the Directive is to provide a coherent and unified level of protection for the Union’s financial interests in all Member States, but this objective is not easy to achieve from several aspects. The study aims to present some deficiencies and shortcomings of the PIF Directive in this respect.
