The Eörsi Gyula's oeuvre on comparative law as a bridge between past and future, between states and world

The adoption of the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) in 1980 was a feast of common language for the merchants' world. The role of Gyula Eörsi on the Diplomatic Conference adopting the Convention is as well known as his oeuvre of comparative law covering decades. The CISG with the concept of breach at its centre and the complex system of consequences, reviewed the results up to that time of private laws and gathered them together with a common denominator, serving as a beacon for the future (UPICC, PECL, CESL, etc.). Decades later, the Hungarian lawyers' society saluted Eörsi's work by receiving the rules of breach and remedies from the CISG and from the rules of commerce of 1875 into the new Hungarian Civil Code (PTK).
