Contact points between agricultural law and competition law

Abstract

This study aims to highlight the interface between agricultural law and competition law, within the framework of which the starting point is agricultural law. After presenting the definition of agricultural law, in a short summary some historical aspects of the competition law are mentioned, then – based on the doctrinal foundations of competition law – a basic introduction is provided on specific competition rules applying to the agriculture and food supply chain. In the end, the conclusion is built up by analysing the characteristics of agri-food competition law.
