The EU notion of worker defines the personal scope EU law instruments in the social field, therefore, the laws of the Member States must comply with this notion when defining the personal scope of employment protection. As a result, the EU concept of worker will have a significant impact on the national concept of employee. National courts will face a more complex task of interpretation by complying with national and EU standards at the same time, when defining personal scope of employment law.
